Abstract

From its application, the author can conclude that this green roof automatic watering system works well and can last up to 2 months of use. Watering is an important step to maintain the condition of plants, but most people do not know the correct watering methods such as watering time and watering composition suitable for plants. Almost all green roof plants of any type do not use an automatic system, but manual watering. This condition makes watering on the green roof very difficult to do. Therefore, many people think that having a green roof is very difficult, especially in maintenance. Based on these problems, the author wants to prove to the public that having a green roof is not as difficult as they imagine. By combining watering methods, green roofs and surface irrigation, the author wants to create something that can help people in caring for plants, especially green roof plants. The purpose of this final project is to create and introduce the workings of the Green Roof Automatic Watering System. Using the Atmega16 chip, the author created an electronic circuit programmed with the C language, which will water the plants automatically if the sensor detects a humidity percentage above 10%. The sensor uses a pair of rods that transmit voltage between the rods through the ground. Then the sensor will send data to the chip for processing if it meets the conditions, then the MOC3021 IC will be active then the AC current automatically fills the load (pump). This electronic circuit is then applied to a 30' wide green roof prototype in a diagonal shape. The layers of the green roof from the first to the last are cube-shaped fern roots that are impermeable to maintain the cycle of water, soil, and plants, especially grass species.
